| Personal InformationBirthdate: September 9th Birthsign: Virgo Name: Maarten Fastello Wolff Personality: Overlord is a very charismatic figure in Mutant society, and a very mighty figure in the media. Due to his extensive knowledge of his Mutant powers, he has become somewhat of a top priority to avoid by the United States Armed Forces. Wherever the Overlord roams he is often a very observant and charming character, keeping a keen eye on his surroundings, and the words spoken/actions done, while still remaining sociable and interested. The Overlord is very deceiving to his opposition, and his way to win a war is through deception. He is also very confident in his own abilities, which can make him seem quite arrogant among other things. Overlord is also very well-spoken, and can work out his own politics. Due to his charisma he can often lead a large group of followers in his own direction, making him a master manipulator capable of altering someone's perception of the world they live in, and the goals they want met. Those who do not serve the Overlord often question his motives making him somewhat of an enigmatic figure as well. Overlord can be very merciful or ruthless, his main goal is to put Mutants in their place - which is above the average human-being, and cares for his subjects greatly to the point of willful diplomacy and alliances with the X-Men or rarely the government. Overlord has a sense of honor, and a lot of pride, which is a strength as much as it is a weakness, he often always keeps his word. Mutant Superpower(s) Motional Manipulation: Enables Overlord to alter his motion, or the motion of another physical force, and/or in reference to a physical force. The Manipulation of motion is extensive enough to apply velocity, acceleration, displacement and time. Motion enables Overlord to alter the location/position of a physical force, while the velocity aspect of motion alters the rate of change of a physical force; this includes acceleration, speed and displacement. Kinetikinesis: Overlord has control of kinetic energy at a molecular level. He can turn an object's potential energy into kinetic energy, making it explosive. He does not need to make physical contact to do so, nor does he have a block to prevent him from using this on a living being. He can cause another being to be unable to move or unable to stop if in motion. He is able to cause or simulate various energies by manipulating the kinetic energy present, such as infrared and microwaves by increasing molecular agitation or cold by reducing it. Telepathy: Overlord is able to read minds and project his own thoughts into the minds of others within a radius of 250 miles (on Earth). With extreme effort he can greatly extend that radius. When synced with Cerebro, he can connect to every mind on a planet. Whether or not this also relates to all sentient lifeforms or specifically with Humans and Mutants is not known. Astral Projection: Overlord has the ability to Astral Travel and communicate with others astrally through his own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others. In the astral realm, he can use his powers to create "ectoplasmic" objects. AbilitiesMembers can start with a set amount of Abilities per Superpower depending on their Level as a Mutant, and as long as it makes sense. Make sure to follow the template below, do not generalize your abilities too much, or they will not be approved: Power: Motional Manipulation Level: 8-10 Type: Offensive, Supplementary Name: Organic Acceleration Description: Overlord is able to tap into a target's own internal organs; using this he can manipulate the interior of their body like a puppet, a torture device, or means to kill. For any average human-being, tapping into their bodies, and manipulating their insides is somewhat of an easy task. For lower-leveled mutants organic acceleration is an easier task, however, for mid-high leveled mutants it either relies on the Overlord's power to break his target's will, or literal physical contact. So long as there is physical contact, he can directly influence internal organs, which includes systems of organs. Perquisites: -- Drawbacks/Limitations: There must be physical contact on another member for 100% efficiency; from a medium-long range distance it relies on the other members will to survive, which is different in every Mutant depending on their views/mood toward life. This can be used on NPC's with ease. If Overlord successfully takes control of another Mutant, he can totally manipulate them for 3 of their posts in a thread, afterwards he cannot take control of their minds a second time in a thread. Power: Motional Manipulation Level: 7 Type: Supplementary Name: Hyper Locomotion Description: By simply tapping into a targets own motion, Overlord can keep the target in a more active state of motion, such as continuously walking/running/flying non-stop until the effect wears off, rendering the target unable to control his own movements for a temporary amount of time. The target will ignore physical objects and keep moving. Perquisites: -- Drawbacks/Limitations: This Hyper Locomotion effect lasts for 8 of the target's posts. Power: Motional Manipulation Level: 9 Type: Supplementary, Defensive Name: Cell Regeneration/Tissue Repair Description: By accelerating the cells in his body simply by channeling fast-motion throughout it, the Overlord's cells will regenerate phenomenally, and in very short periods of times; also, if tissue needs repairing Overlord can channel fast-motion throughout his body to get it done a lot faster, allowing him to easily repair broken bones, damaged muscles...etc If the motion within his body is channeled constantly it will literally increase Overlord's durability to Superhuman levels. Perquisites: -- Drawbacks/Limitations: The hardening effect of this ability lasts for 10 of the Overlord's posts. Power: Motional Manipulation Level: 8.5 Type: Illusionary Name: Inertia Exertion Description: Inertia Exertion has a sensory affect, which renders the target seemingly immobile while all of his/her surroundings are seemingly moving at a fast rate. In other words, what they see visibly doesn't appear to be standing still or in a particular motion, instead it's in a constant state of movement that continues to accelerate deluding the target from focusing on the Overlord, or his surroundings. Perquisites: -- Drawbacks/Limitations: This illusion lasts for 4 of the targets posts. Power: Motional Manipulation Level: 7.5 Type: Supplementary Name: Motional Sensory Description: Due to his mastery of motion, Overlord is capable of identifying someone specifically by the motion of their own hearts. Also, this allows him to sense even the slightest movements around Overlord, so, he knows whether or not someone is there - though, teleporters often make this a difficult task for him. Even at someone's fastest state, he can still sense their movements, though, the faster they are... The more difficult it is for him to counter their own physical prowess/actions. Perquisites: -- Drawbacks/Limitations: -- Power: Kinetikinesis Level: 4-10 Type: Offensive Name: Kinetite Description: Kinetite is a condensed form of kinetic energy, that is constantly moving at a fast rate that Overlord can increase, or decrease depending on the power level desired. By condensing enough kinetic energy, he can shoot large amounts of Kinetite into solid objects, and depending on its power, has the capacity to totally destroy skyscrapers, and lengthy portions of a metropolis, since the large amount of kinetic energy explodes when in contact with potential energy. A medium-leveled Kinetite (when fired) can destroy a tank in one shot. By centering kinetite in a particular part of his body (often his fists, and feet) he can augment his physical strength, and bring extra amounts of pain to his targets, easily being able to shatter bones on a normal human-being. Perquisites: -- Drawbacks/Limitations: If using Kinetite at its maximum level, Overlord cannot use Kinetite for the rest of the thread. Power: Kinetikinesis Level: 7-9 Type: Defensive Name: Kinetic Field Manipulation Description: Overlord can project kinetic energy extensively; one of his most prominent forms of kinetic energy is using it as a force field around him. Overlord can alter the amount of kinetic energy projected, making his force field a lot more efficient. When he projects kinetic energy continuously around himself, anything that hits the barrier will explode on impact, being potential/kinetic energy; using the Kinetic Field Manipulation renders projectiles totally useless against Overlord, but, it does require his focus to maintain, and the longer he maintains a kinetic field, the faster he will be fatigued. Perquisites: -- Drawbacks/Limitations: -- Power: Telepathy Level: 7-9 Type: Offensive, Supplementary Name: Mind Blast Description: Using his telepathic powers, the Overlord can overload someone's mind with telepathic thoughts. This overload of thoughts has the potential to drive someone insane, or lose touch with their own 5 senses for a period of time. It can easily be used to distract the target giving enough time for Overlord to find an opening, and take advantage of it. Against normal human-beings, Mind Blast can easily cause minor to severe brain damage. Perquisites: -- Drawbacks/Limitations: -- ArsenalPrimary Weapon: -- Secondary Weapon: -- Gadgets: -- Armor Overlord's Helmet: Overlord's helmet is built to shield his mind from psychic probes and manipulation. Overlord's Armor: The costume that Overlord wears is actually a type of armor that he has created. The costume is actually an amalgam of various lightweight, but highly durable, metallic alloys that further protects him from many forms of physical injury. WeaknessesDespite Overlord's immense power, he certainly does have his weakness. Overlord's ability to wield his superhuman powers effectively is dependent upon his physical condition. When severely injured, his body is unable to withstand the strain of manipulating great amounts of energy. When his powers are not at their peak, he also appears to have greater difficulty controlling forces other than motion. Overlord also is limited by the fact that he needs food, water and oxygen in order to survive. He is also susceptible to physical and mental fatigue that can ultimately affect his ability to adequately use his powers which is why he is always so calm in battle, because if he isn't it would only help weaken him. Overlord, whose name is Maarten Wolff was born September 9th, 1931. As a youth, he grew up impoverished within Germany, post-war. His parents taught him to fend himself in these troubled times, and his Mutant powers hadn't quite awakened yet. His family didn't live well, but, they were survivors of oppression from Hitler. Unlike most Germans, Maarten's mother and father didn't have a particular grudge or dislike for America, and other Allied powers from WWI. It was around the mid 1930's that a charismatic figure named Adolf Hitler began preaching his views on Jews, and the wrecked state of Germany. He easily manipulated the public, though, Overlord's parents were not so easily swayed, Maarten's mother was Jewish, and feared his words. As the years went by, Maarten had become an accomplished thief. One day he hurried to escape the scene, only to bump into Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler promised him that one day, poverty would be no more in the Fatherland; Maarten didn't know how to respond to that.
His parents began fearing Adolf Hitler's influence, and after Kristallnacht in 1938, they attempted to go into hiding. For a couple years his family managed to escape the Nazi regime. Eventually however, when the Nazi's were rallying up Jews from a local ghetto nearby his parents refuge along the border of Austria, they were noticed by the Commander of a battalion of SS. He called for them, suspecting of their being as Jews. When his parents tried escaping with their son, the SS managed to apprehend all of them. Angered by their attempts to leave the Nazi presence, they had transported all of the Jews in the ghetto, including Maarten, and his parents to the worst Nazi Death Camp, Auschwitz.
Maarten was in his early teens during his imprisonment at Auschwitz. He witnessed the murder of both his mother and father, being his only family. Over the months, the Nazi's had put Maarten in the Sonderkommando, the squad of Jewish men who were forced to help their Nazi masters run the gas chambers, ovens, and fire pits of the camp. The only member of his family to survive the Holocaust, Maarten learned how brutally human beings could treat minorities whom they considered different.
While in Auschwitz, Maarten fell in love with a gypsy or Roma girl named Lilia. He saved her from the gas chambers, and then from execution as Auschwitz was being evacuated; the two of them escaped together.
For several years, Maarten and Magda lived in a Carpathian Mountain village, and eventually they were married. They had a daughter, Angelina.
Not satisfied with the simple life of a mountain village, Maarten moved his family to the (then) Soviet city of Vinnitsa, so he could better himself. On their very first day in the city, Maarten consciously used his powers for the first time. He motionally accelerated a crowbar at his boss who was cheating him of his pay. When he returned to the inn where he, Lilia, and Angelina were staying, he saw it was on fire, and his daughter Angelina was trapped on the upper floors. He tried to use his new-found powers to save his daughter, but his boss had called the KGB, and they beat up Maarten and held him down, preventing him from rescuing Angelina. The child fell burning to her death, in front of her father. Maarten then used his powers to destroy the men holding him, the crowd watching, and a large section of the city of Vinnitsa in revenge.
Terrified by her husband's powers and overwhelmed by the tragedy, Lilia fled as her husband called out to her to help him bury their child. She never revealed to him that she was pregnant. At some unspecified time later, soon after giving birth to twins, Eadmund and Pietro, under the care of Bova on Wundergore Mountain, Lilia wandered out into the snow, never to be seen again; presumably dying.
Maarten at this point sought out a forger named Georg Odekirk, who was supposed to be amongst the best, and asked him to create a new identity for him, so he could hide from the KGB and search for Lilia more easily amongst her own people. Odekirk created the false identity "Angelo Maccio the Sinte gypsy" for that purpose - though the search led Maarten nowhere. Meeting Cabal Lorenis- Spoiler:

Eventually Maarten traveled to Haifa, Israel. He worked there as a volunteer orderly at a psychiatric hospital for Holocaust victims. It was here he first met and became friends with Cabal Lorenis. Maarten and Cabal frequently debated the subject of mutants' coexistence with the rest of humanity, though neither revealed to the other that they were mutants. After the two men joined forces to rescue their friend Gabrielle Haller from Baron Strucker and his Henchmen and revealed their powers to each other, Maarten seized the Baron's Nazi gold, and left for parts unknown, realizing his and Cabal's views were incompatible. For some time after, Maarten attempted to stay on the path of righteousness, and used his powers to help track Nazi war criminals. However, while working for one of the Western intelligence agencies (CIA), he was also working for Mossad, and instead of turning the Nazis over to his "Control" government after he found them, he was giving them over to Israel for trial. It seems his "Control" knew about Maarten's status as double-agent, and let him give the Nazi war criminals to Israel, as long as they were Nazis that the Soviet Union had optioned. But when Maarten captured and attempted to give Nazi Hans Richter (one of "our" Nazis) to Israel, agents from the unnamed Western intelligence agency decided to put an end to Maarten's activities. They murdered Maarten's girlfriend at the time, Isabella, right in front of his eyes. In a rage, Maarten killed his "Control" and cohorts, and vowed from that time on, he would be called "Overlord" and began planning his campaign against the human race.
Years later, Overlord reemerged in costume and helmet, determined to conquer the human race to prevent their oppression of mutants as the self-proclaimed savior of mutantkind. It is certain at this time, Overlord was in a psychotic and manic state, brought on by a combination of factors, including the overuse of his immense powers. Overlord had inspired other Mutants to stand up, and rise together in order to combat Humanity, and conquer it altogether. They steadily grew in numbers, and managed to follow up on more then a few of Overlord's earliest battles against Humanity, and their Mutant-protectors, the X-Men. Through time and time again, Overlord's plans were foiled by the tolerant X-Men, who aimed to serve the good of Humanity and Mutantkind; they were led/provided by Cabal Lorenis, now referred to as Professor Lorenis. When Overlord discovered the Lorenis Institute of Higher Learning as the source of these X-Men he confronted Professor Lorenis for the first time in almost two years. It was here that they continued to discuss their views of Mutants, and here that Overlord and Professor Lorenis finally dueled one another. Their duel led to the destruction of the Lorenis Institute of Higher Learning, and the excess use of their powers exhausted both of them; when they realized how many Mutants' lives they put on the line, the two worked together to reconstruct the Lorenis Institute of Higher Learning. It was during this temporary alliance that humanity proved to be even more of a problem, and upon discovering an old land mass off the coast of Eastern United State, Overlord abandoned the Lorenis Institute of Higher Learning, leaving the X-Men and Professor Lorenis to finish the job. Overlord threatened the United States government by expressing somewhat of his higher potential by destroying a town along the East Coast on national television. It was a simple job since there were only innocents that could stop him and the Brotherhood of Mutants. Overlord claimed that he'd do the same to New York City, or even the capital of the United States - and fearing what could happen (as well as not finding a use for the old land mass), the United States government allowed Overlord to create his Mutant nation. Overlord called this Mutant nation Terra Hereditas, and since he has populated it with Superbeings (Mutants) it has become one of the most powerful Nations in the world, as well as one of the most advanced technological Nations in the world. Professor Lorenis died due to natural causes, he was well aware of the fact that it was his time to go. Professor Lorenis would leave his legacy and dream in the mind of the X-Men. Overlord had attended his old friend's funeral, and held high respects for Professor Lorenis, just not his direction with the Mutants that served him. The death of Professor Lorenis brought a little more of an understanding among most Mutants, but, their Leaders' dreams in life were all too different to remain peaceful with one another. Though Professor Lorenis died, his X-Men still carry on his dream of trying to unify the world Humans and Mutants alike; on the other hand Overlord and his followers still share the same dream, the conquering of the world, and dominance of Homo Sapiens Superior. Since Professor Lorenis's death, the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men are often clashing with one another. Overlord will do anything in his power to bring power to those who deserve it - Mutantkind, and anyone in his way will be mercifully defeated - or have been. Overlord operates within his Castle, and on the Mainland often disregarding Humanity's laws along with the Brotherhood of Mutants he had founded over 50 years ago. RP-Sample: -- |
